According to Mysteel, Eurofer has filed a registration application for hot-dip galvanized steel coils imported from Turkey and Russia, which may trace the tariffs set in the dumping case initiated by the European Commission (EC) five months ago.

In a letter to the committee, the association said that since the investigation began on June 24, the European steel association was concerned about the significant increase in import dumping from Russia and Turkey.

The European steel association noted that the average dumping margin of Turkey during the investigation period was about 18% and that of Russia was about 33%. The association said that the average monthly import volume has also increased by 24% since the filing of the case on June 24 (i.e. July 2021 to September 2021).

In the letter, the European steel association indicated that imports may continue to increase and weaken the remedial effect of any measures taken in this case, unless the committee takes disciplinary measures against imports through registration.

It is understood that the European Commission began to investigate the hot-dip galvanized coil imported from Turkey and Russia on June 24, accusing some corrosion-resistant steel from these countries of dumping to Europe.

Industry sources said that the investigation is expected to be disclosed in advance on December 24, and the European Commission will implement interim measures before January 24, 2022, and the final measures may be announced around July 20, 2022.
